![]() ![]() I have two fully bootable clones (thanks to CCC) of my HD as well as some older TM backups. At that point I was about to starting looking for the culprit in earnest but decided I really needed a fresh start and fresh install anyway (as well as a good opportunity to gain back needed free space). ![]() One of the APPs was FileExaminer.Īll went fairly well until I discovered the "Show Sidebar" option was grayed out in Finder, and I couldn't get it back despite unistalling Total Finder and doing several restarts. While reading an article about 49 Mac Gems in the latest edition of MacWorld I decided to try a number of the recommendations (including one I had tried before, but discarded-Total Finder). Too, I am addicted to downloading (free, trial, and purchased) software, most of which I never actually use. In every upgrade I have used Migration Asst to handle the heavy lifting of transferring my data and setup, but now I am considering a clean reinstall with manual transfer, so would appreciate some input. My trusty 2007 vintage MBP has seen several iterations of OS X now (initially shipped with Tiger OS X 10.4) and is currently running Mt Lion OS X 10.8. ![]()
